Correct lighting is very important, especially at night when competitions, sports meets or concerts are held after dark. The main task of stadium lighting is to provide appropriate conditions for all participants, from players and coaching staff to fans and photojournalists. Good lighting is also the guarantee of the highest level of TV broadcasting. Too strong light will distract the player’s attention, too weak light makes it difficult to carry out the highest level of sports games. Each time the lighting must be adapted to the type of exercise performed in a given facility.
The arrangement of lamps and lanterns：
In the case of each interval, the proper arrangement and orientation of the lighting equipment play an important role. In the case of low-level courts, a system of 4, 6 or 8 masts is usually used, placed on the four corners and sides of the field. The situation in high-end stadiums and stadiums is different. In these places, masts are often abandoned and replaced by lighting projectors installed on the roof structural elements of the stands.

In the absence of stands or low stands, it is impossible to install lighting at an appropriate height and then use pillars and masts. On the other hand, for stadiums with stands, lighting is an indispensable part of the stands.
The lighting of sports facilities should be carried out in accordance with applicable standards. For advanced facilities, the guidelines of various sports federations, such as FIFA, UEFA, and ITE, should also be considered, and all conditions related to illuminance, uniformity and brightness should be met. A single luminaire should emit light with specific color characteristics and be equipped with a glare and light diffusion control system. The glare effect is caused by directing excessively high light intensity at nearby people or by choosing the wrong lighting equipment. Conversely, when light hits the sky outside the area that should be illuminated instead of sports facilities, interference light will be generated because the lighting equipment has too much light.
In the case of a stadium where a football game is played, the lighting should not be located behind the goal area. The horizontal and vertical lighting levels must be set so as not to cause the glare effects mentioned above. The lighting must not dazzle the contestants or judges. Every part of the sports facility should maintain the same color temperature. Usually this range is in the range of 4200-5600K. For outdoor sports, higher values are recommended.
