NO!  Ordinary LED lights can only be used for lighting, and the effect is not obvious when used as plant lights. The lamp used for plant light needs to be specially set for its spectrum, the growth and development of plants mainly need red and blue light, and the ratio of red and blue light required by different plants is different.

 

LED plant growth lights use semiconductor lighting principle, dedicated to flowers and vegetables, fruits and other plants, general indoor plants and flowers, will grow worse and worse with time, the main reason is the lack of light irradiation, through the spectrum of LED lights required for plants, not only can promote its growth, but also can extend the flowering period, improve the quality of flowers. Further applying this high-efficiency light source system to agricultural production such as greenhouses, greenhouses and other facilities, on the one hand, it can solve the disadvantages of the lack of sunshine leading to the decline of the taste of tomatoes, cucumbers and other greenhouses vegetables, on the other hand, it can also make the winter greenhouses solanate vegetables before and after the Spring Festival, so as to achieve the purpose of anti-season cultivation.

 

The light required for plant photosynthesis has a wavelength of about 400 ~ 720nm. Light from 400 to 520nm (blue) and 610 to 720nm (red) contribute the most to photosynthesis. 520 ~ 610nm (green) light, the rate of absorption by plant pigments is very low. Therefore, plant lamps are basically made of red and blue combination, full blue, full red three forms to provide red and blue two wavelengths of light, covering the wavelength range required for photosynthesis. In terms of visual effects, the red and blue combination of plant lights appear pink. In addition to red and blue light plant fill light, there are full spectrum fill light, the light is white, close to natural light, indoor planting fill light is a good choice for vegetables, flowers, fruits have fill light effect.

 

Ordinary LED lights contain more blue and green light, while the content of red light is less, and the use of ordinary LED lights can not completely fill the light of the plant.

When winter comes, many planting novices choose plant fill light lamps, they often feel that the higher the power, the better the fill light effect. But there are still yellow leaves, barren problems, where is the problem?

Before exploring the problem, let’s briefly review the relationship between plants and light.

We all know that everything depends on the sun to grow, and plants need to accumulate dry matter through photosynthesis to grow, just like children continue to supplement nutrition in order to grow tall and strong.

When the organic matter produced by photosynthesis during the day = the matter consumed by respiration at night, it indicates that the light intensity during the day is the light compensation point of the plant. Higher than the light compensation point, continue to grow, lower than the light compensation point, self-consumption, and eventually die.

Of course, the amount of light a plant can receive also has a “maximum” : a light saturation point, beyond which light suppression can also occur, hindering growth.

We generally use the photon flux density PPFD (unit: umol/s/m2) to measure the light intensity. For example, tomato light compensation point: 53 umol/s/m2, light saturation point: 1985 umol/s/m2; Rose light compensation point: 62 umol/s/m2, light saturation point: 596umol/s/m2.
